How to Submit Your Book

If you think your book might benefit from a professional editorial critique and you wish to use this editing service, here are the steps to follow:

• Prepare your manuscript according to the guidelines contained in the Mad about Books Website.
• Contact me about your project.
• After I respond, send a hard-copy (computerized) complete manuscript to:

Please email marie@madaboutbooksmarie.com, BEFORE you send the book via surface mail.

Do not send electronic submissions, on disc or by email. These submissions will not be read.

Prepare your novel in standard publishing format.

• Use 12-point type and a standard font, such as this one: 12-point, Times New Roman.
• Format in only double-spaced, one-sided pages.
• Include a header or footer on each page, with your name, your title, chapter number, and page numbers.
• Show one-inch margins surrounding the text.
• Include a title page, including your contact information and the approximate number of words in the book.

Along with your manuscript, please include:

• A self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE) for me to return your manuscript and critique. Do not use meter strips; they expire within days.
• A personal check, cashier’s check, or money order for the correct fee amount @ $1.50 per page. I will convert all manuscripts set in smaller type into 12-point and charge the appropriate fee.

How to send:

• I usually recommend that my clients send books or manuscripts by the cheapest method possible. This is U.S. P.S. First-Class for non-bound pages and Media Mail for bound material. You don’t need to send your material via Priority Mail, unless you wish to.
• You may also send by Fex-Ex or UPS, if you wish, but please alert me by email to expect the manuscript.
